Hi everyone, I am new to SNAP but was advised by a friend to post here for some advice. A bit of background quickly, our daughter was born 14 weeks premature and suffered a static injury to the brain at birth resulting in a recent diagnosis of Spastic Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy (SQCP). We are enrolled with an Early Intervention Team who are fantastic and we don't doubt for a second that they are doing their best for DD but we thought we would look for something else that we could do to help improve her quality of life and make life easier for her and us as well. We came across a video clip of the Anat Baniel Method for children (can be seen on www.anatbanielmethod.com). We were totally amazed and couldn't believe our luck when we found that there was an ABM practitioner living in Ireland, in tralee, so we emailed her with DD's brief history and she asked us to come to tralee to see if DD would be a candidate for the ABM. We were there for 4 days and took 7 sessions and saw instant results. I am a very sceptical person and was not expecting to see results so quickly but we did. By the end of the weekend DD was making attempts to crawl believe it or not. I would love to hear if anyone else has tried it or if anyone has a look on the website if they would be willing to let me know their opinion. This is our first time using alternative therapy and I almost feel like we are cheating on the EI team, stupid I know but that's how it feels. Anyway, i look forward to hearing any opinions at all on this. Thanks. |

Hi Breffinin, just read your letter re. Anat Baniel method. I had never heard of this method until a mother mentioned the name to me and I decided to google it the other nite to see what it was all about and low and behold your letter came up. I have a little boy who is 4 yrs old, was premature and has dystonic quadriplegia (cerebral palsy). At present he cannot sit unaided, hold his bottle, walk or talk but he appears to be as bright as a button. I am currently swamped out with appointments and therapies at the moment and am cautious about taking on every therapy that I come across but I was just interested in your thoughts about your sessions with the Anat Baniel practioner in Tralee. Is it a very long term therapy, do you need to spend a lot of time in Tralee with the practioner, is it expensive, did you see any benefits from it and if so are they permanent benefits. Do the benefits depends on how able or how young the child is? Sorry for all the questions. You could get lost in the world of treatments and therapies out there couldn't you. It's very hard to know what is the right thing to do I hope your little girl is doing well. AM |
