hi,
i guess the first thing i should do is introduce myself and give you the reason for my writing to you. at present i am under-going some market research into the special need services and parents with children who have special needs in ireland. the research is to see if there is sufficient demand to set up a business providing the parents who have children with special needs support and counselling along with helping the children involved come to terms with their special needs as well as ensuring that they can make the most of their educational opportunities at the various key stages in their lives. i am both qualified in special needs as well as psychology and counselling. if i am able to prove there is a need for such a service it would put weight behind the business plan.. many thanks chris |

Hi,
I am new on here as i am having problems finding suitable day placements for my daughter who is 20 and has Downs syndrome. There does not seem to be anything where she mixes with her own peer group whilst doing things age appropriate.I had a shock today what is allowed in day care facilities so if any changes can be made to go forwards not backwards is very needed here as i left the UK only a year ago. There needs to be more support for parents definately and most of all CHOICES! they say choices are important but dont give any. Good luck and well done Alison |
